Remembering our AUSASD President Dean Mallires

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our esteemed AUSASD President, BG Dean Mallires. Dean was a pillar of strength, leadership, and integrity within our community, and his absence leaves a profound void in our hearts.

Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Lori, and their two daughters, who were the light of his life. His dedication to family, service, and country was evident in all he did.

In recent months, Dean was visited by four members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who interviewed him at his home and later honored him at the Mormon Battalion Historic Site in Old Town, San Diego. Though Dean never discovered who initially recommended him to the group, their tribute was a moving testament to his legacy. They compiled a thoughtful biography that captures Dean’s spirit and contributions, and we are grateful to share their work with you.

Dean’s memory will continue to inspire us, and we invite you to view the Mormon Battalion’s tribute to him, which beautifully reflects the impact he had on all who knew him.
